The Palo Santo carried by Higher Healing Witchery Inc. comes from a supplier in Peru that works to preserve and respect the trees.
The wood is collected only after trees or branches have naturally fallen. Live trees are not intentionally cut down for our Palo Santo supply.
We choose to work with this supplier because caring for the Earth and sourcing spiritual materials as responsibly as possible is important to Higher Healing Witchery Inc.
🔥 How to Light Palo Santo
Palo Santo can sometimes take a little patience to light — that is completely normal.
Hold one end over a flame until it begins to catch. Allow it to burn briefly, then gently blow out the flame so the wood continues to smolder and release fragrant smoke.
If it goes out quickly, simply relight it as needed.
🏠 Smoke Cleansing a Space
Open a window or door where safely possible before beginning so stagnant or unwanted energy has somewhere to leave.
Begin toward the back of the space and gradually work toward the main exit.
Carefully guide the smoke through:
• Corners
• Doorways
• Windows
• Mirrors
• Thresholds
• Closets
• Areas where the energy feels stagnant
Once your clearing is complete, intentionally welcome back the energy you want to remain, such as love, peace, protection, abundance, prosperity, or joy.
You can use prayer, bells, music, singing bowls, chanting, visualization, or spoken intentions for this portion. You do not need to create additional smoke.
🧍 Personal & Aura Cleansing
Keep the smoldering wood safely away from your body.
Using your hand or an appropriate fan, gently guide the smoke around and above your head and then downward around your body while focusing on your intention.
Palo Santo may also be used before meditation, divination, energy work, or chakra practices.
🔮 Cleansing Spiritual Objects
The smoke may be carefully guided around crystals, jewelry, altar tools, tarot or oracle decks, and other spiritual items that can safely tolerate smoke exposure.
🌿 Smoke Cleansing vs. Smudging
Smoke cleansing is the broad spiritual practice of using botanical smoke to energetically cleanse a person, object, or space.
Smudging refers to specific sacred ceremonial practices belonging to particular Indigenous peoples and traditions. The two terms should not automatically be used interchangeably.

Always use a proper fire-safe dish, cauldron, cast-iron burner, or other heat-resistant container underneath Palo Santo.
Never leave burning or smoldering wood unattended.

🐾 Keep pets away from concentrated smoke. Extra caution should be used around animals or people with asthma, respiratory conditions, or smoke sensitivities.
