This Rue was homegrown by Higher Healing Witchery Inc.

Our garden is part of a multigenerational family connection to growing and tending plants, with family roots in Calabria, Italy. These herbs are cared for throughout their growing cycle before being harvested and prepared for spiritual use.

✨ Ways to Use Rue

Rue can be used in protection jars, boundary spellwork, protective charm bags, doorway wards, altar bowls, banishing workings, petition rituals, or placed symbolically near entrances.

⚠️ IMPORTANT RUE SAFETY

For altar/spiritual use only. Do not ingest. Do not use in baths, bath bombs, soaps, oils, cosmetics, teas, or directly on the skin.

Rue contains compounds capable of causing phototoxic skin reactions, particularly when skin contact is followed by sunlight or UVA exposure. Medical literature documents reactions including redness, blistering, and pigmentation. 

Avoid during pregnancy and keep out of reach of children and animals. 

🏠 Cleansing With Rue

If smoke cleansing with Rue, ventilate first and begin at the back of the space, moving toward the exit. Pay attention to doorways, corners, mirrors, thresholds, and other spiritually significant areas.

After removing unwanted energy, follow with a separate practice intended to invite peace, protection, or blessings. Sound, prayer, bells, or a singing bowl are excellent smoke-free choices.

🌿 Smudging vs. Smoke Cleansing

Smudging belongs to specific Indigenous ceremonial traditions. General energetic use of botanical smoke should be described as smoke cleansing.

No burner or fireproof container is included.

Use only equipment specifically designed to tolerate burning materials, such as a fire-safe cauldron, loose-incense burner, charcoal-safe burner, suitable heat-resistant bowl, or outdoor fire pit where permitted.

Never leave fire unattended. Ventilate thoroughly.

🐾 Keep pets away from Rue, loose herbs, and smoke.
